New, unpublished studies (Frederick vom Saal - University of Missouri) are showing endocrine disrupting effects beyond the effect of aggression in mice, from methoxychlor, an insecticide. vom Saal's work, was described at the conference "Estrogens in the Environment IV", sponsored by the NIH and the NIEHS, held in Arlington, VA on July 21-23, 1997
vom Saal reports that "it may be possible for an individual to consume a batch of grapes with enough methoxychlor residue to have endocrine disrupting effects." His studies, to be submitted for publication soon, show effects on muscular development, reflex devlopment, adult behavior and the adult reproductive system, including an increase in prostate size and a decrease in sperm production. These results are similar to the results obtained studying bispehenol-A. The aggression studies in mice were published 1975 in Toxicology Letters
