History
Stemilt Growers was organized by Tom Mathison in the 1960's near his home on
Stemilt Hill. He instituted a move toward improved fruit handling and
packaging procedures in order to deliver a more desirable product to the
consumer. Stemilt selected superior growers with the expectation that
a premium product would result in an equitable return for their fruits of
labor.
A Responsible Choice®
Our overall program is dedicated to a quality environment. Utilizing
Integrated Fruit Production (IFP) we are able to address all aspects of
growing, harvesting, storing, and packaging fruit. With each stage we
have developed a program based on "Responsible Choice®" and
we are proud of our ability to only provide fruit grown and packaged
under an environmentally sound program.
